House Party Presents: VooDoo Circus
February 26 @ 7:00 pm - February 27 @ 2:00 am$15.00 – $30.00
New Orleans Voodoo is a tradition focused on channeling the spirits that perpetually surround us. It is believed that, when one whole-heartedly surrenders themself to dance, a spirit can take over the body and bestow insights from their great wisdom upon the dancer.
It is said that this voodoo spirit connection is strongest just before the traditional period of Lent. As they prepare to go dormant for 40 days and 40 nights, they come out one last time to feast, dance, and play in the celebration known as Mardi Gras.
At House Party we take our dancing very seriously. With music designed to make you move, we invite you to tap into something new and powerful this year. At the Voodoo Circus, you’ll find mystical fortune tellers in our witches den. You’ll see magnificent circus acts and visual works of art. You’ll close your eyes and find bliss amongst the sounds of soulful jazz and the driving groove of the medicine drum, losing yourself in the magical presence of the voodoo spirits. Assemble your krewe and show us your stuff!
GrooveWell is a collective project formed by longtime friends who equally share a strong passion for quality musical experiences. With more focus on the vibe than the genre; their parties provide an eclectic variety of uplifting sounds with a penchant for funk and disco, both classical, modern and futuristic.
The GrooveWell squad specializes in creating a uniquely inclusive environment, united by music that emphasizes involvement, acceptance and most of all, dancing!
We’re jazzed to have some live New Orleans Jazz music to kick off our Voodoo Circus Party on February 26th!
Born out of hoodoo, this concoction of spiritual jazz, dark soul and funk grit comes easily to this special collective dubbed the Who Do Krewe.
Comprised of musicians Miguel Jimenez (Y La Bamba) Alex Korostinsky, and brothers Mark Sexton and Chris Sexton (Whatitdo Archive Group, The Sextones) The Who Do Krewe is an unapologetic serving of funk paying homage to the greats of late 1960s and 1970s soul, and jazz.
