Having graduated from Prince’s alma mater\, Central High School\, he’s been a South Lake Tahoe resident since 2013.  A co-founder of Moons of Jupiter\, Rhys designed and built Strata Studio in Tahoe Paradise\, where the group records. \nUnlike Prince (R.I.P.)\, Rhys is a Virgo. \nBRETT KENDALL \nWhen it comes to music\, food\, and the outdoors\, Brett Aaron Kendall gets down on all things local. A Lake Tahoe resident since he was 13\, Brett discovered his gift for the culinary arts at age 16\, thus beginning a life-long interest in the sustainable food movement. He and wife Jennie co-founded FOLK Brewing Company in 2014\, creating Original Lake Tahoe Kombucha\, a line of authentic\, slow-brewed\, single-barrel libations. In their spare time\, the couple enjoy exploring the Lake and playing frisbee golf with their two dogs\, whom they call the Fuzzy Explorers. (And no\, the dogs do not have their own jazz band.) \nBrett’s previous bands include Noodle Soup\, Mista Grind\, and Aether Haze. \nMYKE SMITH \nMyke Smith laid his drum sticks down when his high school band leader told him\, “No more drummers! Take your pick\,” he said\, “the trumpet or the saxophone.” Smith has been blowing blue notes out of his alto sax ever since. His influences run the gamit\, from Cannonball Adderly and Grover Washington\, Jr.\, to Gerald Albright\, Kirk Whalum\, and Kenny G. He favors the sounds that float down the streets of Memphis where he was born and honed his musical talents\, playing with renowned musicians there\, DuWayne Burnside and Albert King\, Jr. \nThe Moons of Jupiter co-founder also is the band’s lead singer. That twinkle in his eye comes from serenading wife Maggie with sexy jazz melodies.

DESCRIPTION:Gia Torcaso has been playing bass in the Reno\, Nevada music scene since 2004 when she transitioned from acoustic guitar to electric bass in order to “Join a band…because everyone plays guitar!” Her good friend\, and talented Reno singer-songwriter\, James Cavanaugh\, taught her the bass basics in order to form an acoustic trio called JC&Co. With a lot of time spent locked up in her room practicing\, Gia went from bass novice to bass badass in a matter of a few years. In the Reno music scene\, she has played blues with Bluestone (2005-06)\, rock with Dirty Pretty (2006-08)– in which she was the primary song writer\, pop with All About Me (2005-2007)\, Kate Cotter (2008-09)\, and Nothing Like a Dame (2010-2013)– in which she was also a primary song writer. In recent years\, she has played hip-hop/rock/reggae with Knowledge Lives Forever (2011-2014) and blues/R&B/rock-pop-soul/electronic music with Whitney Myer (2010-current). As a bass player\, Gia has toured through NV\, CA\, OR\, WA\, and TX. She has also had the opportunity to sit in with many different songwriters such as Danielle French\, Heather Combs\, & Tyler Stafford. DESCRIPTION:SINGER/SONGWRITER/BASSIST\n\nGia Torcaso has been playing bass in the Reno\, Nevada music scene since 2004 when she transitioned from acoustic guitar to electric bass in order to “Join a band…because everyone plays guitar!” Her good friend\, and talented Reno singer-songwriter\, James Cavanaugh\, taught her the bass basics in order to form an acoustic trio called JC&Co. With a lot of time spent locked up in her room practicing\, Gia went from bass novice to bass badass in a matter of a few years. In the Reno music scene\, she has played blues with Bluestone (2005-06)\, rock with Dirty Pretty (2006-08)– in which she was the primary song writer\, pop with All About Me (2005-2007)\, Kate Cotter (2008-09)\, and Nothing Like a Dame (2010-2013)– in which she was also a primary song writer. In recent years\, she has played hip-hop/rock/reggae with Knowledge Lives Forever (2011-2014) and blues/R&B/rock-pop-soul/electronic music with Whitney Myer (2010-current). As a bass player\, Gia has toured through NV\, CA\, OR\, WA\, and TX. She has also had the opportunity to sit in with many different songwriters such as Danielle French\, Heather Combs\, & Tyler Stafford.
